Worked flawlessly to connect 2.5 Gbs modem to Unifi UDM-ProMy ISP (Xfinity) upgraded my internet to 1.2 GBs (for free, thank you!).To make use of the faster speed, I purchased an approved Motorola modem with 2.5 Gbs output, and this White product. The Unifi software made it relatively easy to switch the main WAN to the SFP+ port.I did not need to do any configuration on this Wiitek part. It just worked. I get 1.3 GBs or more at the UDM-Pro, and 900-1200 Mbs at clients. Very happy.

25 degree drop compared to Mikrotik S+RJ10Wow, this is so much cooler than Mikrotik S+RJ10 for some reason in UDM SE. With S+RJ10, it would go up to 85C then shut itself down. With a 20mm fan blowing at the module directly, S+RJ10 was only able to go down to 65C. I replaced S+RJ10 with this Wiitek transceiver, now the transceiver is reporting 40C with a 20mm fan blowing at it.

Works great at 10G on my UniFi switch, but may have compatibility issues at lower speedsThis transceiver worked well for me for 10G ethernet. I used it in my Ubiquiti UniFi Switch Enterprise’s SFP+ port, connected at the workstation end to an AQC107-based 10G NIC. My (unscientific) iperf testing showed Tx/Rx rates in the 7-9 Gb/s range. It also displayed power and temperature info in the switch’s UI (which not all of these transceivers do). However, as others have noted in their reviews here: If you’re looking for a

Great Auto-negotiating Multispeed SFP+ RJ45 TransceiverI bought three different SFP+ modules for testing.- The Mikrotik S+RJ10 Transceiver- 10GTek Transceiver- This one.My use case for this is to connect my Dream Machine Pro to the uncommon 5Gbps gateway port provided by AT&T fiber. The 10GTek doesn’t have autonegotiating so it didn’t work. The Mikrotik worked. However it was running a bit too hot (85C-ish) and it’s close to being dangerous touching. I bought a SFP+ cage to SFP+ cable and the Mikrotik didn’t work in the extension cable. That made cooling it outside of the UDM Pro infeasible.Until I discovered this module. Autonegotiation works. Running much cooler at 58C (it is copper gear so this more than just meets the expectations). And it works in the extension cage as well. And guess what? Cheaper than the Mikrotik too.

Works Great!! Finally full upload speedsI went through quite a few of these and finally found one that was able to provide full upload speeds.I am running Pfsense as a VM on unRaid. I am passing through a Chelsio T520-CR dual port card and using one for my LAN connected to a 10GB switch. I am also passing through on board 1GB intel nic to use with my WAN connected to FIOS gigabit via ethernet. I started having issues with NIC dropping offline on Pfsense reboot so figured I would use the spare SFP+ port on Chelsio card for my WAN as well. I tried a couple SFP+ RJ45 transceivers and they would get full download but upload was limited to 15 Mbits/s.Tried this Wiitek SFP+ to RJ45 transceiver and now getting full download and upload speeds (856/931). Couldn’t be happier. I know these transceivers are very hardware specific, just glad it worked out for my specific hardware.

Very VeristileThese are very versatile SFP+ modules. Not only do they work in many devices and support many speeds they also do the conversation of the speeds in the module themselves, rather than the switch having to support the 100Mb,1Gb,2.5Gb,5Gb and 10Gb this device will always show up as 10Gb to the device with the SFP+ port it is plugged into, this means a switch that does not support 100Mb can have this plugged into it with a 100Mb device on it.I’ve used a couple of these in my Fiber demarcation cabinet to hang 2 100Mb ethernet devices (WattBox & HDHomeRun) off my USW Aggregation Switch. I was also able to use one with my Cable modem and a 10GTek 10G SFP+ to SFP+ OEO Media converter to get 2.5Gb from my Cable modem and send to my router using a 10Gb SFP+ BIDI module over single mode.

These work perfectly! If you have an SFP+ and want a speed other than 10gb, pick some of these up. They’ll negotiate at 10gig to the sfp+, but then they’ll also negotiate at the ethernet level at 1, 2.5, and 10 (I think 5 as well). I have one piece of equipment that has a 2.5gig interface and I didn’t want to buy a separate switch just to handle 2.5gb. This fit the bill.

Good multi-speed compatibilityWorks well on Ubiquiti end of equipment. Had issues when using with Mellanox cards (ConnectX-3). Would attempt lengthy auto-negotiation and sometimes fail (though this item is not specifically listed as compatible with Mellanox). On the Ubiquiti end, we use these since they seem to support 1,2.5,5,10gb. You may need to tweak the settings in UI to unlock certain speeds. UI will show 10gb for link speeds of 2.5 and 5gb.

Asus rt-ax89x status page reported that the cable connected is 10gbps.In Asus support site “It support 10Gbps only.”.works well for 10gbe and 2.5gbe for me.

It works out of the box on those devices and auto negotiates to 10 Base-T. It also less expenses than other comparable products.

CAUTION IF YOU WANT TO USE 2.5preface: it works fine at 10GBASE-T, but if you plan to use this at 2.5 read on. the one star rating reflects my desire to bring this review to the attention of prospective purchasers, not a complete condemnation of the product.WiiTek says this supports 2.5GBASE-T and it does autonegotiate to that speed. In some configurations it does deliver the expected performance of 2+ gigabit/s. However if you want to use this in a mixed network with 10 gig or faster you will likely encounter problems. I strongly suspect this is because the switch sees this module as 10 gigabit and sends packets at that speed, resulting in many lost packets and, in my testing, less than gigabit performance.I attempted to work around this with a Mikrotik CRS305 switch by putting egress limits on the port, and that does help. In this configuration I was able to get up to about 1.4 gigabit/s. Raising the egress limit above that resulted in performance collapsing back down to

Works with PeplinkThis is working well in my Peplink SD 24 switch, connected to an Asus Maximus XIII Hero ethernet controller Intel I225-V. I get the full 2.5gbps over about 15 meters of cat5e ethernet cable routed through the attic and walls. Copying large files simultaneously from 3 other computers in the house that have 1gbps links is using the full 2.5 bandwidth without any problems. Both the switch port and the client NIC are set to auto-negotiate. Anything else does not work. The client reports 2.5 and the switch reports 10gbps. Actual measured speed is 2.5.The SFP gets warm, but not excessively hot in my opinion.

Requires disconnects occasionally or stops workingNot sure if it’s my router or this, but I have to unplug the Ethernet cable (Cat 6a) every so often because my server loses its network connection. This is my only SFP+ connection, so it’s possible it’s on my routers end, but I feel like it’s this device. I’ll likely replace this in the future to test this theory. Outside of that, I am getting a full 10gbps connection

Perfect for UDM Pro WANI have fast cable, but not fiber. My modem has a 2.5GbE RJ45 port, but the UDM Pro only has 1GbE RJ45 or 10 GbE SFP+ for the WAN, no apparent multi-gig RJ45 WAN.This little guy shows a 10 GbE connection to my UDM Pro and a 2.5 GbE connection to my cable modem. Completely auto-negotiated, though you may have to manually set the SFP+ side to 10GbE. Speed tests are in excess of 1Gbps so I know the link is 2.5 as my modem shows.Very cost effective. Connection to the SFP+ port can be touchy, so just don’t bump it.

Works perfectly in my Unifi UXG-PROWorks perfectly to connect my Motorola MS8611 cable modem to my UXG-PRO at 2.5GB/s. I had to buy this as most SPF modules only support 1.25/10, and these new odd ball speeds of 2.5/5 isn’t commonly supported. Can’t verify that it supports 5GB/s but 2.5GBs works fine. Router registers the connection as 10GB/s, probably because unifi hasn’t added support for 2.5/5 in its displays? I’m just not sure why bother with 2.5 when 10 is so common and affordable.

Not working in Netgear XS708T switch with Intel I225-V 2.5 Gb/s NICGot it to extract full speed from Intel I225-V v3 NIC. Used it in Netgear XS708T switch that has 2 SFP+ ports. Testing throughput with iPerf3 it is clear that speed is asymmetrical. Speed from Intel card is full 2.5Gb/s, while speed to Intel card is under 500Mb/s. Tech support tried me to change pretty much all buffer sizes and offload settings in Intel NIC driver, including using Jumbo frames. Nothing helped, and ultimately I had to return it. You may have better luck with Realtek 2.5Gb/s NICs and this transceiver, but if you intend to use it with Intel’s 2.5Gb/s NINs, don’t bother.

Has problems with UDMP and 2.5GBs FiberExact same issue as other modules. Slow incredibly slow uploads. As in < 100 mbps. On a symmetric fiber 2gig connection — downloads are fine, uploads are not — same story this and a few others, but if it's advertised as 803.1bz compliant, it should have been verified to fully support the 803.1bz standard — it doesn't. The one that works is the MikroTik S+RJ10.

I contacted the seller about the 3-year warranty and was told I would need to pay for shipping to return it to China, as well as shipping from China back to me. For something that costs $40-$50 that may as well mean it has no warranty.Do not expect any support after the Amazon return period ends.

Integrates with my UDM Pro and ATT BGMMy UI environment centers on one UDM Pro. I was upgrading from ATT DSL to ATT fiber, this raised a new problem. ATT delivers 5Gig from the BGM using copper trunk, e.g. patch cable. UDM Pro, like many routers, has WAN ports and you need a SPF+ to utilize them. By design 10gig is negotiated, and a bad SFP might drop you down to the lower rate of 2.5Gbps. Witek SFP+ successfully negotiates for all 10Gbps of bandwidth. On UDM Pro, I set the WAN port up to a maximum speed up/down of 5gpbs. The connection has worked from the moment I plugged in the cable. Can’t ask for much more than that!

Worked great on a chelsio NIC in my pfsense boxAt the time of writing this review, I’m a comcast gigabit plan user. They recently bumped us up to 1200mbps down. Taking into account the 20% overprovisioning that Comcast usually provides, that means theoretically I should be reaching ~1400mbps down or so with the right modem. I ended up buying a

as it has a 2.5gbe rj45 port on it.

–> Cat6 patch cable –> Wiitek transceiver –> Chelsio NIC in my pfsense box.Worked like a charm. My pfsense box “sees” a 10gb connection even though on the other end of the Wiitek transceiver is a 2.5gbe connection. It does get hot, so know that going into it. Keep your area well vented if it bothers you.

Data transfer speeds not Bi-directionalI experienced very strange behavior. First off on my Cisco SG350X-24P switch it recognized this transceiver at 10Gb, however I had some issues so I returned it. First off, my Aquantia AQtion 10Gbit Network adapter would not run when set to 10Gb. I had to set it to 5Gb – then I could at least do some testing. The data transfer speeds were not bi-directional. When NIC was set at 2.5Gb I could push a test file to the server at 350MB/s, but pulling down a file was around 20MB/s. When NIC was set at 5Gb I could pull down a test file from the server at 380MB/s, but pushing back up the same file was around 20MB/s. I’m trying the 10Gtek (ASF-10G-T) next – here’s hoping.

Awesome transceiver, works on my UDM Pro/Xfinity Router comboThis very budget friendly transceiver has been working great so far. Yes it runs a bit hot (~36C/96F), but this seems to be a common behavior for many brands. It is connected from the Xfinity Modem using the 2.5Gbps Eth+ port going to the SPF+ WAN port on the UDM Pro. Router reports 2.5gbps connection. My current plan allows for speeds up to 1200 mpbs and I’m getting nearly 1400 down.I’ve gradually upgraded the home network infrastructure to support 10G connections in expectation of the fiber services that are coming to our neighborhood late this year/early next and this has been a perfect addition to the other upgrades.I also have purchased a second unit.

Plug and PlayDoing some research for upgrading my house from 1Gbe to 10Gbe, I came across a couple of videos which suggested this SFP+ I Bought two initially for my home lab and router, and they worked flawlessly. I’ve since bought a few more to integrate into the 10Gbe switch, and couldn’t be happier with them. They do run a little hot (as most do) but other than that, they have been great – and at a great price too!

Link goes down frequentlyHave one of those between my Unifi Aggreggation and my Dell R720 running ESXi with an Intel X520 and the link goes down every 2 days to multiple time a day. Swapped the cable, NIC port, switch port and the only way to fix this was with an OSI transceiver which is stable for 3 months.

Works perfectly with Bell HH4k to pfsense box!!Got this to connect the 10G port on the Bell homehub 4000 to my pfsense box since that cant be bypassed anymore as bell no longer provides a GPON. Was able to connect this to a BCM57810S SFP+ NIC on my pfsense box and have it sync at 10G without any messing around. Has been working perfectly for a few weeks now and no complaints at all. Recommended!!

Works with UDM ProNo issues connecting from my 10g lan port on modem to this 10g rj45 sfp+ transceiver (WAN 2 on UDM pro). Negotiates at 10g no problem and I can get my 1.5g isp speed no problem. Recommend if you need one.

Works great with Mikrotik SwitchI have this plugged into a Mikrotik CSS326, negotiates at 2.5BASE-T just fine to connect to an Access Point. While it’s not mentioned on the product page, this device fully supports NBASE-T, which means it can also connect at 2.5 and 5 gigabit to devices. The device the transceiver is plugged into will just see “10G”, but the RJ45 device will negotiate at whatever its fastest speed is.

Works with Broadcom BCM57810SUsing this in a Broadcom BCM57810S NIC in my pfSense box to a connect via Cat 6 cable to a 2.5Gb port on my Ubiquiti switch and it works perfectly. pfSense “sees” it as a 10Gb device but it negotiates correctly at 2.5Gb with the switch.

Worked well until it didn’tPurchased this module for a UDMP back in May 22 and it worked well enough. Now 11 months later the module is consistently dropping the connection until the cable is pulled and re-inserted.

It’s hot and not stable. It goes hot even when idle. Go to fibre or DAC cable if you need 10G network. 10Gbase-T isn’t a good solution.
