The new updated revision of CCR1009 is here. We attempted to combine all the customer feedback and best practice in CCR device manufacturing that we learned over the last three years, since the first CCR1009 devices were launched. Important changes: No switch-chip – the device now features only fully independent Ethernet ports each with a direct connection to the CPU, allowing to overcome previous shared 1Gbit limitation from switch-chip ports and utilize full potential of CPU processing power on those ports. Combo-port – a single 1Gbit software interface that has two hardware interfaces – a SFP cage and a Gigabit Ethernet port, allowing you to use any type of connection available to you. Port also allows to switch from one to another interface from software, or in event of disconnect, providing new, unique hardware fail-over feature. 100Mbps SFP support – this is our first device that supports 100BASE-LX/100BASE-SX/100BASE-BX fiber modules, as well as standard 1.25G SFP modules. More throughput – due to how ports are connected to CPU, new CCR1009 models can achieve higher theoretical throughput. This unit is equipped with passive cooling enclosure, two heat-pipes and a specially designed heat-sink, so its completely silent. It’s powered by an external 24v 2.5A AC/DC adapter and supports power redundancy if you also power it from the PoE input port. Two versions are available, the CCR1009-7G-1C-1S+PC additionally includes a LCD touchscreen, smart card slot, microSD and a SFP+ port for 10G connections.

great for WAN link aggregation with Comcast cableRelatively easy transition from Ubiquiti EdgeRouter Pro despite the different interface. WAN link aggregation works with the Arris SB8200 cable modem, drawing 1.2 Gbps from Xfinity. The SFP+ 10G LAN port is perfectly adequate. The “Getting started” guide is a joke. Main piece of misdocumentation – 192.168.88.1 is factory-set on port combo1, not on port ether1. Knowing this makes it possible to setup this router with just a web browser — without the Winbox PC software that every other blogger highly recommends. The /export command produces a map of current settings that is an indispensable starting point for any tweaks.

Poor performance and support.I had such high hopes for this router but wound up returning it for a refund. Reason: Maximum upload speed even using dual wan connections hovered around 10 Mpbs or less, on a 20 Mbps connection. I worked with it for 2 weeks constantly trying to arrive at a configuration that would perform, unsuccessfully. Mikrotik support was unable to provide a solution, that is after the several email interactions that were required to get them past trying to blame “everything else”. (Reconnecting my previous technically less capable but still functional router would run at full ISP rated speeds in both directions, proving the issue was somewhere in the Mikrotik router.). The combination of not being able to get it to run and the poor support let too my decision to return the router and remove Mikrotik from my company’s approved vendor list. I still wish it had worked, it looked like a good fit for our needs “on paper”.

Must have for 1 GBit/sec InternetExcellent router for medium size home network. Outstanding performance, I compared it to TP-Link, Cisco and Linksys home class routers and there is just no comparison in features and especially performance. Worth additional money if you have 1 GBit/sec Internet connection. However if you connection is ~200 – 300 MBit/sec you may as well save some money and go with Cisco or Linksys.

This router has performance and features comparable to the “big …This router has performance and features comparable to the “big guys” that cost 10x the price. Sure, RouterOS takes some getting used to, but what carrier grade router doesn’t? Once you do get used to it, it is very powerful. I have had zero stability issues and Mikrotik is quick to update the software.

Router with Amazing Features to Price Ratio and Passive CoolingHighly configurable and reliable router above SOHO class with advanced firewall, VPN, dynamic routing protocols, good performance and many other features for reasonable price. This particular model has passive cooling which makes it indispensable with noiseless requirement installations. Probably the best router in terms of features to price ratio on the market.

Do not buy from this sellerThis seller is an authorized distributor, BUT, they do NOT honor Mikrotik’s warranty if you buy it from them here. Mikrotik will not honor the warranty because they expect their distributors to honor the warranty. STAY AWAY.
